On behalf of the Rattlesnake Bar & Grill, The Spirited Bostonians, and everyone associated with the “Rattlin’ Around the Christmas Tree” event, thank you very much for attending and/or donating to our 2nd annual party and auction. We were not only pleased with the terrific turnout, it became evident to us that as our auction neared completion, the bidding was going stronger than we could have ever imagined. Some of our early predictions were crushed by the time all the checks and credit card slips were counted. We are thrilled and quite proud to announce that with your help, our donation to the Globe Santa Fund for 2011 will be a Grand Total of $16,000. Be assured that with this donation, the children of hundreds of needy families around the Greater Boston Community will awaken to find their new toys under the Christmas tree, certainly in keeping with the tradition and the spirit of generosity during this Holiday Season.
One special moment that cannot go unmentioned, was the delivery of the wonderfully decorated, six foot Christmas tree that we donated to Neely House at Tufts Medical Center. Boston Designer, Richard Burbidge worked steadily on putting the tree together from scratch, with all the trimmings, just as the first guests began arriving. With the assistance of Wayne Strattman and some of the Rattlesnake’s fine staff members, Richard carefully orchestrated the tricky maneuver as the tree was loaded into his pick-up truck. Just as the crew began their short drive to Neely House, a Boston Police vehicle that was parked nearby, pulled in front of the truck with its blue and red lights flashing, and led the way over to the hospital. It was suggested that Bruce Dean may have talked with the Policemen about the special “tree run.” It was a great sendoff and we wish to thank the B.P.D. for their heartfelt gesture.
The following day, Patricia Rowe, director of Neely House, e-mailed our volunteers to let us know that when the patients and their family members woke that morning, they were surprised and amazed at the beautiful, fully decorated tree and all its fun ornaments that stood proudly in their foyer, and brought the spirit of the Holidays to life at Neely House.
Anyone interested in making a donation to Globe Santa, it’s not too late to show your support – you can donate online securely at our FirstGiving page.
The proceeds from this year’s Rattlin’ Around the Christmas Tree event will be donated to Globe Santa in memory of long time friend and event benefactor, William E. Brooks.
Once again, we thank you so much and we wish you all a wonderful Holiday Season.
