Well, “The Spirited Bostonians” is a group of friends who have collectively dedicated themselves to raising funds for local charities and people in need. For years, the group — spearheaded by local Barmaster, Eddie Doyle — managed a very successful Holiday Auction over at the Cheers bar in Boston which raised a total of well over a million dollars during a 29 year run.
In late 2010, members of the group put into action a plan for a fund-raiser to benefit a legendary Boston charity called The Globe Santa Fund. This popular organization provides toys and Christmas presents for the children of needy families in the Greater Boston area. In less than a month, a party was planned for early December of 2010, to be held at the Rattlesnake Bar and Grill on Boylston Street. In a short time, word spread to friends and families alike, and although it was a last minute event, a good turn-out gathered at The Rattlesnake on a snowy evening, and managed to raise over $3,000 dollars for Globe Santa. Thus was born . . . “The Spirited Bostonians.”
The second annual party to benefit Globe Santa will be held at the Rattlesnake Bar & Grill, on November 30, 2011. This year’s event will be dedicated to the memory of William “Billy” Brooks of Boston, a long time benefactor of the fundraising efforts of this group of volunteers. The evening will feature the music of The Rollo Tomasi Quartet, a special Fashion Show presented by the Dawn Mostow Models, small Silent and Live Auctions, and an array of Chef Brian Poe’s finest Southwestern tastings. A $20 donation is requested at the door, and the party will kick off at 7:00 pm and run to 10:00 pm.
People are asked to bring a Christmas ornament to decorate a new tree, which will be brought to Neely House at Tufts Medical Center following the party. On behalf of The Spirited Bostonians, we hope you can join us at the Rattlesnake on November 30th!
